Warning: The information shown is not intended to offend but to inform riders and co-riders of the consequences of not properly preparing to ride a motorcycle. Some of the images are graphic in nature.

The following information is presented to show why we should "Dress for the fall and not for the ride." The photos display a very stunning graphic of what happens when one finds out too late the need for protective gear even when you go out for 'just a short little ride'.

Please share this information with everyone you know who throws a leg over a motorcycle. We should demand it of everyone who rides with us. We all know some, including ourselves, who do not wear the proper riding gear for whatever reason, "It's too hot", "It's uncomfortable", "It ain't my style", or "That stuff don't make me look cool."

After seeing this information, ask them if she looks comfortable, stylish and cool.

Wikipedia (Free Internet Encyclopedia) defines "Road Rash" as follows:

Road rash is a colloquial term used to refer to skin and bone injury caused by abrasion with road surfaces, usually as consequence of cycling and motorcycling accidents. The term may be applied to both a fresh injury and the scar tissue left by an old one.

Road rash is described by some as the reason for which male cyclists may shave their legs, as in the event of road rash occurring, the area remains cleaner if no body hair is present.

Motorcyclists can avoid road rash by wearing the appropriate motorcycle safety clothing such as full face helmet, leathers, gloves and boots.

Meet a real-life road rash survivor. A 22 year-old survivor. Yes, she was young at the time; but we can be just as foolish at any age. While her wounds have healed, she will have to look at the scars for the rest of her life.
